Now I am going to write a recipe for a quick and easy chutney. This chutney can be used as a condiment with idli ,vada and any variety of dosas.
Let's get into the preparation of this chutney------------------
Main Ingredients :
-------------------
Split Dalia..........................1/2cup
Grated Coconut.................1/4cup
Green Chillies.....................3/to taste
Water/Yogurt....................as needed
Seasoning Ingredients :
------------------------
Red Chilly..........................1
Cumin Seeds......................1/2tsp
Mustard Seeds...................1/2tsp
Urad Daal..........................1tsp
Asafoetida.........................pinch
Curry Leaves.....................few
Oil.....................................2tsp
Salt....................................to taste
Preparation :
--------------
First let's prepare the seasoning.Place a pan on the stove on medium heat and add oil.Once the oil is heated up add mustard seeds, urad daal, cumin seeds, red chilly and asafoetida.Switch off the stove and add the curry leaves to the seasoning.
Now in a mixie jar place the daalia, coconut, chillies and start grinding by adding water or yogurt as required.Grind till it makes a nice paste.Add salt and grind it again.
Take the Dalia-Coconut Chutney in a serving bowl and add the seasoning to it.
The chutney is ready to be served with Idli,Vada and Dosas .
Note :
-------
1)If you do not want to add coconut you can omit it and make the chutney just with dalia.
2)Adjust chillies according to your taste.
3)While grinding you can use either water or yogurt to grind the chutney.
Try this chutney and let me know how you like it.
